Second SCD evening of 2020 (see Fotogalerie or Facebook for pictures from previous sessions) in cosy non-smoking premises of the Whisky&Kilt Club. We will teach again a small group of dancers two or three Scottish country dances. This offer is mainly for those with at least basic dancing experience (ideally with Scottish dances) and/or dancing talents. Though we do not go trough stepwork details, we dance a bit more complicated figures. Even the easy country dances (in longwise sets) - which we choose from - are more demanding compared to ceilidh dances. The venue has been already confirmed - the ceilidh will take place in lovely and spacious hall Na Marjánce. For this year we invited again the Alastair Band - led by excellent violinist Alastair Edwards from Shetlands. We hope that also drummers and pipers from the Bohemian Pipe Band will join us again.

Scottish Country Dancing Course 8 - 9 October 2016

Regular Scottish Country Dancing course will take place on 8 and 9 October 2016 in Prague. The course is intended for dancers with at least basic dancing experience who are sufficiently fit and have a certain aptitude for dance. During the weekend course the participants will be taught basic steps and figures necessary for easy and also more complex dances. The course was intended for dancers with at least basic dancing experience who are sufficiently fit and have a certain aptitude for dance. During the weekend course the participants were taught basic steps and figures necessary for easy and also more complex dances. If the St. Andrew's Ceilidh seems to be too far, you might want to join us for the Spring Ceilidh which will take place in the hall of famous Všebaráčnická rychta. We decided to run it without live music, using only mp3 player, for reduced price of 100,- CZK per person. But we can not rule out a surprise - new band.

Currently we are trying to book larger hall to provide more space and accommodate more dancers. We set the date to Friday in order to enable you (and us) to go for another ceilidh organised by Skotský pes on Saturday in Brno.

SCD in the Whisky&Kilt Club - 27 February 2014, from 7 pm, Praha

In response to your requests and inspired by Václav Bernard we decided to offer you an opportunity to enjoy Scottish country dances in a small group of dancers. Every last Thursday of the month we can take an advantage of hospitality of the barkeeper Václav Rout and teach one or two Scottish country dances in cosy premises of the Whisky&Kilt Club. This offer is mainly for those with at least basic dancing experience (ideally with Scottish dances) and/or dancing talents. Though we shall not go trough stepwork details, we will need a bit more complicated figures. Even easy country dances (in longwise sets) - which we shall choose from - are more demanding compared to ceilidh dances. As we want be able to pay enough attention to each dancer (and taking into account size of the premises) we have to restrict the number of dancers to 16, i.e. two sets, which shall take turns on the floor. Therefore - if you want to join in, please register in advance by sending us e-mail on info@caledonianclub.eu or text message to +420 606 627 660. We will collect registration fees of 20,- CZK on the evening. Numbers of non-dancing visitors are limited by the size of premises only.

St. Andrew's Ceilidh to be held on 30.11.2013

We would like to inform you that Caledonian Club will organise a St. Andrew's Ceilidh on Saturday 30th November 2013 from 7.30 pm at Všebaráčnická rychta. The members of the Caledonian Club will be present to demonstrate and teach the dances on the programme. The live music will be provided by the Czeltic. The tickets price has been set on 220,- CZK. Only restriced number of tickets will be sold to avoid overcrowding and allow a pleasant dancing experience. If you are interested please reserve your tickets in advance.

The course is intended for dancers with at least basic dancing experience who are sufficiently fit and have a certain aptitude for dance. Anniversary Ceilidh followed by St. Andrew's Ceilidh 30.11.2011

The whole week has passed since our very succesful Anniversary Ceilidh, and the pleasant memories still linger on. We were very pleased with such a good attendance and enjoyed talking to all those present. The celebration also gave us an opportunity to hear from those who could not come, but sent their greeetings.

It was a great honour and pleasure to welcome among us the Chairman of the RSCDS, Mrs. Ruth Beattie. Our thanks go also to the Czeltic band for their inspiring music to dancing, to the1st Czech Pipes and Drums band for their performance and, last but not least, to Václav Rout and William Chip Doehring for their masterly contributions on bagpipes. And congratulations to all those present who with such gusto joined in even the more difficult dances.

We feel the Ceilidh was a fitting reminder of the original enthusiastic atmosphere at the beginnings of Scottish dancing in Prague, at Všebaráčnická rychta. The joyous mood at the Ceilidh was recorded in photographs, which we have been posting to the Picture Gallery on our web site. If you have some pictures of your own, which you might like to share with the others, please send them to us or let us know where we can find them.

In case you could not come to the Ceilidh, or you have been inspired to carry on with the Scottish dancing, you do not have to wait another ten or fifteeen years for the next opportunity. The Friends of Scotland (Klub přátel Skotska) organise a St. Andrew's Night Ceilidh. It will take place on Wednesday 30th November 2011 from 8 pm at Všebaráčnická rychta. The members of the Caledonian Club will be present to demonstrate and teach the dances on the programme. And the Czeltic band will again take care of the music.

Tickets at the door will cost 200,- CZK. Only restriced number of tickets will be sold to avoid overcrowding and allow a pleasant dancing experience.

RSCDS International Branch SCD Weekend 10 - 13 June 2011

The International Branch of the RSCDS in cooperation with Dvorana and the Caledonian Club invites you to Scottish Country Dancing weekend in Praha which will take place from 10th to 13th June 2011.
